How Safaricom Leveraged On Influencer Marketing To Create Awareness For Its Valentine’s Day Campaign

Background

Safaricom devices offer focusing on itel A24 and the affordable payment model-Lipa Mdogo Mdogo.This campaign aimed at taking advantage of the valentine theme to plug in the phones available for purchase.

Campaign Essence/Objective

Create a buzz around the season of Valentines by positioning Safaricom devices and accessories as an alternative to the traditional gifts given this season.

Strategy

Identifying the right influencers per platform  was crucial for the campaign to perform successfully. Each channel had its own strategic objective, Facebook and Twitter, we used a mix of  Nano  and micro-influencers to help reach a maximum number of  the target audience.Influencers on Tiktok had to be creative enough to create excellent content to boost awareness about the offer. 

Execution

With #AccessorizeWithLove as the campaign hashtag, Safaricom aimed at initiating a message that you can celebrate the day with loved ones by positioning Safaricom devices and accessories as perfect gifts from the usual traditional gifts. Facebook and Twitter used a list of nano influencers to help push the offer posts to help increase the reach.  Tiktok influencers were to have a large following(mega) but they also had to be creative enough to create excellent content to boost awareness of the device they were pushing for Valentines. 

 #AccessorizeWithLove  #MwelekeoNiInternet were the specified hashtags to be used while posting the content. 

Results

Facebook and Twitter had a  cumulative reach of 1,336,220 with a collective 383 pieces of content.

Tiktok had a reach of  2,705,800 , 12.9% engagement rate with a collective of 8 content pieces.

Conclusion

Running a Valentine’s Day influencer campaign is a great way to reach out to your target audience and spread the love for your brand.
